Bob Roach is an active member of the Central Ohio community.  Bob’s involvement includes:


Ohio Wesleyan University, Board Member (2008-present)


One of the nation’s premier small liberal arts colleges, Ohio Wesleyan University boasts a rigorous curriculum, exceptionally strong mentoring relationships between students and faculty, and a host of experiential learning opportunities that link the liberal arts to practical realities and prepare students for service and leadership in their careers and communities.  Chartered in 1842, Ohio Wesleyan is a highly selective, coeducational, residential, privately supported liberal arts college located 20 minutes north of Columbus in Delaware, Ohio, a vibrant community of 31,000 and seat of one of the fastest-growing counties in the country. 


Columbus Chamber of Commerce, Governmental Affairs Steering Committee


The Columbus Chamber leads and supports economic development in the Columbus region as well as provides opportunities through membership for networking, savings and professional development. The Chamber also works to ensure assets like workforce or a minority-friendly business environment are developed to help existing businesses and attract new ones to our region.


Advocacy Groups/Governmental Affairs Steering Committee:  An important aspect of the Chamber's work focuses on the enhancement of the assets businesses need to be successful. A business-friendly tax environment, infrastructure and workforce are just a few of the priorities your Chamber strives to develop.  Advocacy on behalf of businesses is a core focus of the Chamber. Working with city, state, county and federal government leaders the Columbus Chamber promotes a pro-business legal and regulatory environment in which business can grow and thrive. The Chamber's Small Business Council is instrumental in identifying key business issues, such as taxes and workers' compensation that guide advocacy efforts.


Griffith Foundation for Insurance Education, Board Member


The Griffith Foundation is a 501(c)(3) educational institution that promotes the study and teaching of risk management and insurance (RMI).  The Foundation offers risk management and insurance education programs and resources for students, teachers, academic institutions, and public policymakers.


The Athletic Club Columbus


In 1912, the Athletic Club of Columbus was founded by a group of business professionals interested in promoting both social and athletic endeavors. The Club’s first President was Henry J. Booth. In early 1913, the already prominent Ohio Club merged with the ACC and the first clubhouse was headquartered in The Columbus Saving & Trust Building.

Columbus Parks and Recreation Commission, Former Chair


On July 15th 1910, the City Recreation Department was established to enrich Columbus by finding ways to make streets, alleys, boulevards, parks and public grounds more beautiful. On January 2nd 1972, the City Recreation Department merged with the Division of Forestry and Parks to become the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department.



They have grown from six to 215 developed parks on 10,000 acres, has established 30 community centers, seven golf courses, 51 miles of trails, and programs for residents from toddlers to those 50+.


Columbus Zoo & Aquarium, Former Board Member


The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is a non-profit zoo located in Powell, Ohio, just north of Columbus. The land lies along the eastern banks of the O'Shaughnessy Reservoir on the Scioto River, at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Powell Road.  It has a worldwide reputation, largely attributable to the efforts and promotion of director emeritus Jack Hanna. In 2009, it was named by the USA Travel Guide as the number one zoo in America.


The Columbus Zoo is home to over 5,000 animals representing over 700 species and sees over 1.8 million visitors annually. The animal exhibits are divided into regions of the world, with the zoo currently operating eight such regions. In addition the zoo owns an 18-hole golf course, known as Safari Golf Club, Zoombezi Bay, and Jungle Jack's Landing. Both are located just south of the zoo. In total, the zoo owns 580 acres (2.3 km2) of land, with just under half dedicated to the zoo itself.


The zoo operates its own conservation program, donating money to outside programs as well as participating in their own conservation efforts. Over the past five years the zoo has raised over $3.3 million from fifteen different sources.  The zoo also has a close working relationship with the Wilds, a 10,000 acre (40 km²) animal conservation center located in southeast Ohio.


Ohio Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council, Former Chair



The Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council) is a 501c(4) advocacy, research and training organization dedicated to protecting small business and promoting entrepreneurship.


The organization works to educate elected officials, policymakers, business leaders and the public about key policies that enable business start-up and growth. Through advocacy, research, training and education, SBE Council members and staff convey the importance of entrepreneurship to job creation, innovation and economic growth.


SBE Council is viewed as one of the most powerful and effective organizations dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship.
